The Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Godwin Ogorugba, has commended the First Lady of Delta State, Deaconess Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, as her pet project, U Matter Charity Foundation organized a comprehensive free medical outreach for children with special needs, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable citizens.

The humanitarian outreach, held in Ozoro, headquarters of Isoko North Local Government Area, attracted hundreds of children with special needs, their parents, caregivers, healthcare professionals, volunteers, community leaders, government officials, and other stakeholders. The programme was designed to provide quality healthcare services and practical support to children living with disabilities and other special needs, while also easing the financial burden on their families.

During the outreach, beneficiaries received free medical consultations, comprehensive health screenings, diagnosis, treatment, and counselling from qualified medical personnel. The medical team attended to various health concerns affecting the children and offered professional advice to parents and caregivers on proper healthcare management, nutrition, rehabilitation, and the importance of early intervention in addressing developmental and physical challenges.

In addition to the medical services, the U Matter Charity Foundation distributed wheelchairs to children with mobility challenges, providing them with renewed hope, improved mobility, and greater independence. The presentation of the mobility aids was one of the highlights of the event, as many beneficiaries and their families expressed gratitude for a gesture that will significantly improve the children’s quality of life and make daily activities much easier.

The foundation also donated food items, educational materials, electronic learning devices, and other relief materials to support the beneficiaries and their families. The intervention is expected to enhance the children’s educational development while providing much-needed relief to parents and caregivers who continue to shoulder the responsibility of caring for children with special needs.

Speaking during the event, the First Lady of Delta State, Deaconess Mrs. Oborevwori, reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to promoting inclusive healthcare and ensuring that vulnerable members of society are not left behind. She emphasized that every child deserves access to quality healthcare, education, love, and equal opportunities, irrespective of physical or developmental challenges.

In his remarks, Isoko North council chairman, Godwin Ogorugba expressed profound appreciation to the First Lady for bringing the humanitarian outreach to Isoko North. He described the initiative as a timely intervention that has touched countless lives and demonstrated genuine concern for children living with special needs.

The council chairman commended Deaconess Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori and the U Matter Charity Foundation for their consistent investment in programmes that uplift vulnerable groups across Delta State, adding that “The outreach reflects a government that places high value on the health, dignity, and well-being of its people, particularly children whose circumstances require special attention and care.”

Ogorugba further assured the First Lady of the council’s continued support for initiatives aimed at improving healthcare delivery, social inclusion, and the overall welfare of residents of Isoko North Local Government Area even as he urged parents and caregivers to take advantage of similar interventions whenever they are organized, noting that early medical attention remains vital to improving the lives of children with special needs.

The event featured health education sessions, interactions between medical experts and caregivers, the presentation of mobility aids and relief materials, as well as goodwill messages from dignitaries and stakeholders who commended the initiative for its far-reaching impact.

The outreach was widely applauded by community members, parents, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and development partners, who described the programme as a life-changing intervention that has brought hope, restored confidence, and put smiles on the faces of many children and their families.
