“He Bit Me, I’m Bigger Than The Money”- Portable Storms Out Of Boxing Ring
…gets disqualified in chaotic rematch with Charles Okocha
Street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has broken his silence after walking out of the ring during his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha, alleging he was unfairly attacked.
Hours after he was disqualified from the bout on Friday, the singer took to his Instagram page to claim Okocha abandoned boxing for wrestling and even bit him during the fight.
Displaying what he said were bite marks and injuries on his back and body, Portable alleged, “He bit me. I landed a heavy hit on him,” while also claiming several people attacked him during the melee.
“I was in control before it turned into a fight” he said
The Zazoo crooner insisted he had the upper hand before things escalated into a physical struggle.
“Normally, I beat him up. Man to man, one man is tougher than another. I dealt him a huge blow,” he said, maintaining that he landed more punches than Okocha.
Explaining his exit, Portable said he refused to risk his career for a celebrity boxing prize.
“He bit me, number one. He choked my neck. That’s why I say I don’t fight again. I’m big! I’m bigger than the money! I’m a star!” he declared.
He also boasted that he fulfilled his promise of landing 10 punches on Okocha.
“I wore one-round cloth to the bout. I wanted to beat him in one round,” he added.
Chaos at “unfinished business”
The highly anticipated rematch, tagged “Unfinished Business,” was held on Friday at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The contest quickly descended into a wrestling-like scuffle before security personnel intervened to restore order.
Portable walked out before the opening round officially ended. Although he later returned, officials disqualified him and awarded victory to Okocha.
The loss marks Portable’s second defeat in three months, after losing to Carter Efe on May 2nd.
