Duncan Mighty Engages in Public Brawl with PHED Officials Over Power Disconnection

Popular Nigerian singer, Duncan Mighty, has reportedly clashed with officials of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) during an attempted disconnection of electricity supply at his residence in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The confrontation reportedly occurred as PHEDC officials arrived at the musician’s residence to disconnect his power supply over an alleged unpaid electricity bill.

Videos circulating on social media showed flooded and muddy streets around the area, with residents seen wading through the water as the electricity officials arrived at Duncan Mighty’s residence.

The situation reportedly escalated into a confrontation involving the singer, PHEDC officials and security personnel.

According to reports, Duncan Mighty sustained an injury and was left bleeding after a police officer allegedly struck him during the altercation. The circumstances surrounding the alleged assault, however, could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.

The incident has since generated reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning why electricity consumers continue to accumulate unpaid bills, while others criticised the manner in which disconnection exercises are carried out.
