Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Godwin Ogorugba, has commended the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori over what he described as a “gender-friendly and inclusive approach to governance”.

Ogorugba who gave the commendation Monday when he received the Forum of Vice Chairmen of Local Governments in the State in his office in Ozoro, expressed appreciation to the governor for creating opportunities for women to serve in leadership roles, a gesture he noted is uncommon in many states.

While congratulating the Vice Chairmen, Ogorugba said the election of over twenty women into such positions reflects progressive leadership and the governor should be commended and appreciated by all and sundry.

“I congratulate all of you on your roles as Vice Chairmen and sincerely thank the Governor for this opportunity given to women. It is a commendable development. In many states, such representation is rare. This shows our Governor’s commitment to inclusivity and the important motherly perspective women bring into governance.

“I want to also commend the vice chairmen for their unity and teamwork. I am pleased to see you moving together as a team. May the bond you are strengthening today remain with you long after your time in office.”, Ogorugba prayed.

Ogorugba also eulogised his vice chairman in particular, Evelyn Aluta, for her dedication and motherly role within the council, noting their long-standing professional relationship.

“My vice chairman is someone I have worked with for many years, dating back to 1998 when she served as a pioneer legal adviser in our former party. She has held several positions and continues to bring maturity and care to her duties here. Offices may come and go, but the impact of good leadership remains.”

Earlier, the spokesperson of the visiting vice chairmen thanked the Isoko North council chairman, Ogorugba for the warm reception, saying “We sincerely appreciate the warm, welcoming, and caring reception you gave us. Your advice means a lot to us, and we are grateful.”

Ogorugba received the delegation alongside the secretary to the local government, Vote Umukoro; the Head of Personnel Management, Mrs. Irene Onwodi, the council treasurer, Ofejiro Ogbogbo and others.
