Security operatives have arrested members of an alleged “one-chance” robbery gang in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as authorities intensify efforts to curb attacks on unsuspecting commuters.

The suspects were reportedly apprehended on August 23 during an operation targeting criminal syndicates accused of posing as commercial taxi operators to rob passengers of cash, mobile phones and other valuables.

The alleged criminals are said to lure passengers into vehicles before subjecting them to threats and, in some cases, physical violence.

Footage from the operation showed a female suspect seated inside the vehicle, while some of the male suspects were seen being placed in the open rear section or trunk of the vehicle after their arrest.

The manner in which the suspects were handled has since attracted reactions from members of the public.

Police authorities confirmed the arrests and said the suspects were linked to ongoing criminal activities targeting commuters in the state.
