Bayelsa Polls: PDP Says INEC Has Been Served Court Order Disqualifying APC Guber Candidate, Lyon, Deputy

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has been served with a court order disqualifying the APC Governorship candidate, Mr. Lyon David and his Deputy Governorship Candidate, Senator Degi-Eremienyo, from participating in the November 16, 2019 governorship election in Bayelsa State.
“Earlier today, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), were both served with an Order, disqualifying the APC Governorship candidate, Mr. Lyon David & his Deputy Governorship Candidate, Senator Degi-Eremienyo, from participating in the November 16, 2019 Bayelsa State Gubernatorial election”, the party said.
Recalls that a Federal High Court, Abuja, had on Tuesday, disqualified the Deputy Governorship Candidate, All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, over false information given in his CF0001 Form submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the Nov. 16 election.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a judgment, said Degi-Eremienyo gave false information in relation to his educational qualifications and went ahead to depose to an affidavit to correct the discrepancies.
The judge held that all his documents bore different names.
Justice Ekwo, therefore, disqualified him on the ground that he provided false information to the electoral umpire to stand for the election.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had sued the Bayelsa APC governorship candidate, Lyon Pereworimin; his deputy, Degi-Eremienyo and INEC, asking court to disqualify Degi-Eremienyo.
NAN reports that the suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1101/2019 was instituted on Sept. 18 by the opposition PDP, its governorship candidate in Bayelsa, Douye Diri, and Lawrence Ewhruojakpo.
The judge ruled that the act amounted to giving false information in violation with Section 31(5) and (6) of the 2010 Electoral Act.
