Police Confirm Release of Kidnapped Anambra Businessman, Rev Sister

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the release of businessman and Chairman of Jezco Group, Chief Joseph J.J. Ezeokafor, and a reverend sister who were abducted by armed criminals at Ifite-Awka, Awka South Local Government Area of the state.

The victims have safely returned, the police said on Saturday.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed the development in a statement, saying the police have commenced efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the abduction and release.

“The Anambra State Police Command confirms that Chief J.J. Ezeokafor and a Rev. Sister, who armed criminals earlier abducted at Ifite-Awka, have been released and have safely returned,” Ikenga said.

According to him, the command is obtaining relevant information from the victims to support ongoing investigations and assist in identifying and apprehending those responsible for the abduction.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the safe return of the victims and directed intensified intelligence-led operations and a manhunt for the perpetrators.

Ikenga said the ongoing operation involves the police and other relevant security agencies.

He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in apprehending the suspects.

The police command said further investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
