Chief Joseph Ebere Ezeokafor, chairman of Jezco Group, popularly known as Jezco, has been freed after spending several days in the hands of kidnappers.

The prominent businessman and father of social media personality Jowi Zaza was seized in the early hours of Tuesday while heading to a prayer center in Awka, Anambra State.

The abduction triggered concern across Anambra, with family members, associates and residents calling for his safe return.

Sources said the kidnappers reached out to the family during his abduction. Their initial demand was put at N700 million, but it was later raised to N1.5 billion.

As at the time of this report, details surrounding his release were still sketchy. It remains unclear if any ransom was paid or the exact location where he was set free.

Chief Ezeokafor founded Jezco Oil and Lubricants in 1980. The company has since grown into other sectors of manufacturing and commerce.
