Adeleke Reaffirms Endorsement of Tinubu’s Second Term Just After Securing Reelection

Newly reelected Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.

Adeleke made the declaration shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced him as the winner of the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Reactung to the outcome of the election, Governor Adeleke thanked the people of the state for reelecting him for a second term, expressing gratitude to President Tinubu for ensuring a free and fair electoral exercise.

Governor Adeleke said; “I must deeply appreciate the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a free and fair election…I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election”.

The governor who ran on the platform of the Accord Party, secured a second term after defeating APC’s Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

According to results announced by the State Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, Vice Chancellor of Federal University Oye Ekiti, Adeleke carried 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas. Oyebamiji won in the remaining 11.

Final figures showed Adeleke polling 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji garnered 444,815 votes. ADC’s Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam finished third with 17,180 votes.

The election was conducted across Osun’s 3,763 polling units and was largely seen as a two-horse race between Adeleke and Oyebamiji, with both candidates dominating different regions during collation.
