Isoko South Boss Flags off Measles–Rubella Vaccination Exercise
The chairman of Isoko south Local Government Area of Delta State, Friday Ovoke Warri, over the weekend, officially flagged off the Measles–Rubella (MR) Vaccination Exercise, aimed at safeguarding children against preventable diseases and to promote a healthier future for all.
Addressing the occasion at Odoro Primary School, Oleh, Warri said the exercise is for children aged 9 months to 14 years, emphasising the life-saving essence of the MR vaccine.
Warri urged parents to cooperate with health officials to ensure the success of the week-long intensive vaccination drive, which is expected to last for eight days, starting tomorrow.
“if we’re not ready to leave with deformity, we must take up the vaccine. The government is not collecting money for this vaccine. Kindly take advantage of this opportunity. With the help of our partners, this vaccine is free.
“Our beloved parents, note if we fail to take up this opportunity, it might affect our children’s health tomorrow. Let’s take up the advantage.”
The council chairman concluded by thanking the various partners for their support and prayed for the success of the exercise in the Isoko South council area.
Earlier in her address, Lurant Onieba the Health promoting officer, in Isoko south said the critical immunisation programme targets children aged 9 months to 14 years, and also includes routine immunisation for children aged 0–23 months and HPV vaccination for 9-year-old girls.
