Delta Police Command Presents Cheques of Over N16M to Families of Fallen Officers

The Delta State Police Command, on Thursday, 2 April 2026, presented cheques of over Sixteen Million, Six Hundred and Seventy-Nine Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty-Nine Naira, Ninety-Two Kobo to families of deceased police officers as part of activities lined up to mark the 2026 National Police day.

This was contained in a statement by Delta Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe.

Edafe said thaf the event, which signified the culmination of the week-long activities within the State, precedes the grand finale scheduled to hold at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

A total sum of ₦16,679,749.92 (Sixteen Million, Six Hundred and Seventy-Nine Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty-Nine Naira, Ninety-Two Kobo) was presented to thirteen (13) beneficiaries as part of efforts to support families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Speaking during the presentation, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, described the occasion as both solemn and significant.

He noted that it reflects the commitment of the Force leadership to the welfare of its personnel and their families.

The CP assured the beneficiaries that the Nigeria Police force is with them and will continue to support them.

In a vote of appreciation, one of the beneficiaries, Ahanuwa Raphael, who spoke on behalf of the others, expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Delta State Police Command for the support extended to them.

He noted that the gesture would go a long way in assisting the families and prayed for continued strength and success for the Nigeria Police Force.

The Commissioner stated that the sacrifices of fallen officers remain invaluable and will never be forgotten; he encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support provided, while assuring them that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to stand by them.
