In a bid to seek more support for Anioma state creation, Senator Ned Nwoko (APC Delta North), on Thursdasy, led a high-powered delegation of traditional rulers, political leaders, and key stakeholders to meet with the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin.

The visit marks a strategic phase in intensifying efforts to secure constitutional backing for the proposed state, as advocates move to consolidate national support and drive the initiative through legislative channels.

Nwoko made it clear: the Anioma State demand is not personal, it is a unified, people-driven movement.

He stressed that the proposal has consistently been tabled before the National Assembly, backed by sustained engagement with lawmakers and deliberate inclusion in ongoing constitutional amendment discussions.

He pointed to the growing prominence of the Anioma cause as evidence of deliberate advocacy, expanding awareness, and increasing buy-in across multiple levels of governance.

According to him, the delegation’s visit signals more than symbolism, it reflects a coordinated, determined push toward statehood.

In response, Jibrin praised the delegation’s cohesion and disciplined approach, describing their engagement as both constructive and constitutionally grounded.

He acknowledged the complexity of state creation in Nigeria, emphasizing that success hinges on broad consultations, political consensus, and strict legislative compliance.

Jibrin singled out Nwoko’s persistence, commending his role in keeping the Anioma State proposal firmly on the national agenda.

He pledged institutional support within the bounds of his office, assuring the delegation of fair consideration and active facilitation where possible.

He also urged continued nationwide engagement to build the critical consensus required for progress.

Speaking for the traditional institution, Henry Kikachukwu, the Obi of Ubulu-Unor, expressed appreciation for the reception and assurances given, describing the visit as a strong display of unity and shared resolve among the Anioma people.

The engagement closed on a clear note: continued dialogue, stronger collaboration, and unwavering unity will define the road ahead.
