Agency Partners Innoson Motors To Train 100 Persons Of Concern In Automobile

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons says it is collaborating with Innoson Motors to train about 100 persons of concerns to build their capacity in automobile engineering.

Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim disclosed this when Humanitarian Journalists visited her in Abuja.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim said the collaboration was part of the ‘Project Skill Up’ where persons of concern would develop skills to become self-reliant and employers of labour.

“Innoson Vehicle Motors has agreed to train 100 persons of concern for over one year to be proficient in the automobile industry so that they can be able to make cars or repair cars.

“After the one year training, they can choose to either work for Innoson Motors or open their own company or shop,” she said.

The NCFRMI boss noted that the commission had other projects like ‘Project Education’ that will see the birth of technical learning centres around the camps to encourage out of school children to be engaged.

“Also, we will soon see the birth of ‘Project Total Health’ by the commission, where we will see to the health concerns of persons of concern. Each camp has a clinic but let us see how we can strengthen them.

” We also have ‘Project Resettlement City’. It is in the pilot phase now in locations like Maiduguri, Kano and Katsina. We are about to begin the second phase in Zamfara, Edo and Nasarawa States.

“So in the future, we will see camps converted into resettlement cities. These people have stayed so long in those camps and it has become their homes. So we will be engaging state governments and others to convert the camps to cities.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim restated her commitment to collaborate with stakeholders, including the media to ensure that concerted effort in providing support to all persons of concern in Nigeria are effectively achieved.

She stressed that the commission was focusing on its ‘Vision 5s’ to deliver on its mandate.

According to her, the Vision 5s includes strengthening internal framework to address gaps, streamlining existed data, provision of sustainable and durable solutions around rehabilitation, reintegration and resettlement and strategic partnership and civil mobilisation.
