Warri Intervenes in Uzere Crisis as Warring Parties Agree to Peace Deal

An intervention by the chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council of Delta State, Hon. (Comr.) Friday Ovoke Warri, has brought the various parties in the lingering crisis in Uzere Kingdom, Isoko South to the negotiating table, with stakeholders committing themselves to peaceful resolution of their differences.

The intervention followed a stakeholders’ meeting convened on Thursday by Warri at the council secretariat in Oleh as part of efforts to restore lasting peace, prevent further escalation and safeguard lives and property in the kingdom.

The meeting brought together the parties involved in the dispute, traditional rulers, community leaders, youth representatives and security agencies.

At the end of the meeting, the stakeholders signed a Peace Accord, pledging to resolve future disagreements through dialogue and other peaceful means rather than resorting to violence.

Under the terms of the accord, the stakeholders acknowledged that disputes could arise within any kingdom or community but stressed that such disagreements must never be allowed to degenerate into violence, loss of lives or destruction of property.

They further agreed that a fresh crisis which erupted on Sunday, August 23, 2026, should be regarded as a closed chapter, with all parties committing themselves to abandoning any form of vendetta, reprisal or retaliation.

The accord also provided that any signatory, proxy or representative found to be directly or indirectly propagating, instigating or supporting violence through youths or any allied group would be held accountable by the relevant security agencies.

The stakeholders expressed deep regret over the recent incident and pledged to work collectively towards restoring absolute peace, unity and stability in Uzere Kingdom.

The peace initiative is expected to provide a framework for reconciliation among the various parties, while helping to rebuild confidence, restore stability and promote peaceful coexistence among the people of Uzere Kingdom.

The development further underscores the importance of collaboration among the local government, traditional institutions, community leadership and security agencies in resolving communal disputes and preventing disagreements from escalating into threats to lives and property.

Those who signed the Peace Accord included HRM Udogri Odhebe Odhiwu I, Ovie of Uzere, Edward Onyagbodor, President-General of Uzere, Bashorun Askia Ogieh, Chief Iduh Amadhe, Sam Ogrih, James Millie and the youth chairman of Uzere.

The signing of the peace accord was witnessed by council chairman, HRM Johnson Egbo Ewhiri, chairman of the Isoko South Traditional Rulers Council, Lt. Col. H. A. Mohammed, Commanding Officer, 246 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Oleh, CSP Boyewa Bomi-Dore, Divisional Police Officer, Oleh and George Tamounottonye, Officer in Charge of the Department of State Services (DSS), Isoko South.

With the signing of the Peace Accord, stakeholders are expected to uphold their commitments and work collectively to ensure that peace, unity and security return fully to Uzere Kingdom.
