The Care-taker Chairman of Brass Local Government area of Bayelsa state, Victor Inodunimi Isaiah, has imposed a nine hours curfew in the crisis-ridden community, alleging threat to his life by an APC chieftain in the community.
Specifically, Isaiah alleged that the violence  attack in the community between thugs suspected to be members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and members of the local volunteers groups on Monday was targeted at him but was rescued through divine providence.
Speaking to newsmen after inspecting some of the properties destroyed during the bloody clash that reportedly claimed three lives, the Chairman, disassociated his party, the People Democratic Party (PDP) from the violence.
He said the youths who made attempt on his life by attacking his personal lodge with guns and other dangerous weapons were known political thugs used by the leader of the APC and a member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Sunny Goli.
According  to him, the attempts by the alleged APC thugs to gain entrance into his office lodge was met with resistance from the Local Government security volunteers group, saying that the PDP in the local government or state has nothing to do with the violence.
His words: “few days ago, some suspected armed APC youths attacked the local government council Aide and PDP youths. Now, they attempted to assassinate me but met me absence and were resisted by our security volunteers.
“One of the dead thugs, Kelvin Ikurusi, the mastermind and leader of the Monday 20th, August 2018 failed assassination attempt on my life is a member of the APC in Brass and a known hardend criminal and cultist who escaped from police (SARS) custody in Yenagoa last year.
“Before his death, he was under police wanted list for breaking out of police (SARS) custody. After the successful cell break, he ran to Brass and was provided refuge by the APC chieftain.
“The reports of his misdemeanors are  notoriously known in Brass as he is daily fingered for armed robbery, snatching of phones, harassment of indigenes, etcetera.
“He was empowered and given a matching order by Leaders of the APC in Brass to harrass and intimate members of the PDP.”
Isaiah however called on the Federal Government, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and other relevant security agencies to investigate without bias, the alleged activities of the APC chieftain and ensure security in the community especially as election drew nearer.
He also called on the youths in the area not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs as the electioneering period gets nearer, urging them to instead engage them to know what benefits they had brought to the local government area and the state.
Meanwhile, the APC in the state, said it has sent a protest letter to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris over the Monday violent attack and killing of two members of the party.
The party accused the PDP of desperation to take over the area in 2019 by working in consonance with some individuals, hired mercenaries and security agencies to kill and unleash mayhem, threats, intimidation, unlawful arrests and detention of opposition members across the state.
The member representing constituency 1 in the State House of Assembly, Sunny Goli in a statement, alleged that the violence was allegedly initiated by the PDP through the acting Chairman, to intimidate, kill and chase out opposition members from the Brass Local Government area of the State.
