Delta 2019: Emerhor Formed APC Group To Dislodge Kachikwu, Others

The 2015 governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta state, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor has formed an APC group christened “Mainstream Delta APC” tailored to dislodge the Minister of state for Petroleum, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu as the party leader in the state.

BigPen Online recalls that the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun had sometime ago mandated the Minister of state for Petroleum, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu to as the highest political office holder of the party in the state takeover the party leadership and settle all disputes in the party.

But sensing that the party structure would be taken from him after bankrolling it’s activities since inception, especially the party governorship ticket, Emerhor reportedly convened a meeting of some selected chieftain of the party loyal to him and inaugurated a group which only recognises those with him as mainstream members of the party in the state.

This development, sources said had finally nailed APC’s coffin in Delta State whereas Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who is hopeful of a hitch free ride back to Government House is also having problem with his People Democratic Party, PDP which is also polarized along the party line of Sheriff Modu who laid claim to the party as national chairman and Senator Ahmed Makarfi as Caretaker Chairman respective.

Sources said that Emerhor, had since lost the APC machinery in the state to Kachikwu who had been holding series of meetings to bring all aggrieved members together but dissatisfied with the arrangement of the Kachikwu’s leadership of the party, Emerhor reportedly funded the new MDA with a charged on them to only allow those recognize by the group as the party’s flag bearers during elections.

Sources at the weekend meeting convened by Emerhor said the formation of the group is to position itself as the most dominant political structure of APC in the state and strive as much as possible to have a forceful say in political contests within the APC.

A source said: “Emerhor want everybody to be under him as he is using Prophet Jones Erue and others to forment trouble in the party. Recently a meeting was called in Abuja by the minister but Emerhor and his cohorts deliberately refused to attend.

“Because the party has resolved that the state Exco be dissolved and a caretaker committee be put in place without further delay, Emerhor hurriedly called his cohorts to a meeting at his country home and a group was inaugurated with the aim to fight the Minister who he perceived as an enemy.” the APC member said.

Continuing, the APC Chieftain said: “Emerhor has totally lost out and now he is like a wounded lion. He has also mobilised youths to do hatchet job for him so that he can continue to be in charge of the party in the state.

“To see how desperate is Emerhor, he went ahead appointing Protem coordinators for his new group in the persons of Alfred Oloko, Iyke Odikpo and Eniforo Mallam-Obi, to over see the three senatorial districts of the state. But the good news is that they have all failed and they will be shock seeing the real APC in action across the state.” the staunch member of the party concluded.
