Senate minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio has resigned his position. The resignation letter, dated 4th August 2018 however did not state any reason for the resignation. Meanwhile, Senator Ben Murray Bruce has accused Akpabio and other senators of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of being behind the DSS siege of the National Assembly. Daily Trust reports that Sen Bruce as saying they would make sure that countries like the US, Canada, The United Kingdom, among others revoke the visas of Senator Akpabio and his cohorts as well as their wives and children over the development. His colleagues in the senate, Ben Murray-Bruce (Bayelsa East) stated this on his Twitter handle @benmurraybruce on Thursday morning. “I have just been informed by Moses Melaye, @dino_melaye’s brother, that Dino has been abducted by unknown persons in a Toyota Sienna that blocked their car and overpowered them on their way to Kogi to answer to Dino’s court case.   The Senate has directed security agencies to prevent the suspended Senator Ovie Omo-Agege from further gaining entrance into its chamber. Omo-Agege, who was last week suspended by the Senate for dragging the upper legislative chamber to court on the amendment to the Electoral Act 2010, had attended plenary on Wednesday. He was, however, absent on Thursday. The lawmaker’s emergence at the chamber had occurred same time when suspected thugs invaded the Senate chamber while plenary was ongoing and made away with the mace.
