Anthony Joshua is ‘Stable, Do Not Require Any Emergency’ – Lagos Gov, Sanwo-Olu
Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that British-Nigerian two-time unified world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, is stable and do not require any emergency interventions at this time following a fatal motor accident he was involved in along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Sanwp-Olu who confirmed the death of two associates of the boxing star, howwver expressed deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased, saying Joshua and one other passenger who sustained minor injuries were immediately evacuated to a specialised medical facility in Lagos.
He said that following several clinical assessments, doctors have confirmed that both patients are stable and do not require any emergency interventions at this time.
In a post shared on his verified Facebook page, Sanwo-Olu wrote; “I wish to confirm that earlier today, Anthony Joshua, the British-Nigerian two-time unified world heavyweight boxing champion, was involved in a road traffic accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
“The vehicle conveying his four-man team collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Lagos State, I extend my deepest sympathies to the families of the deceased. I pray that God grants them the strength to bear this painful loss.
“Anthony Joshua and one other passenger were immediately evacuated to a specialised medical facility in Lagos. Following several clinical assessments, doctors have confirmed that both patients are stable and do not require any emergency interventions at this time. A comprehensive medical team has been assembled and will continue to monitor them closely.
“I am informed that Anthony Joshua is conscious and relating well with his family.
“The Governments of Lagos and Ogun States are closely monitoring the situation and will ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical care. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash have already commenced.
“I appreciate the concern shown by members of the public and kindly request privacy for Anthony Joshua and his family during this difficult period”.
