Civil servants in Delta State are set to enjoy enhanced welfare as Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday, signed into law the Thirteenth Month Salary Law, 2026.

The Governor assented to five bills in total at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Asaba, in a move aimed at strengthening governance, justice delivery, and investment climate under his MORE Agenda.

Besides the 13th-month salary law designed to boost workers’ morale and productivity, other laws signed include:

  • Amendment raising the number of High Court Judges from 46 to 50

  • Public and Private Properties Protection (Amendment) Law

Speaking after the signing, Oborevwori said his administration was focused not just on infrastructure but on policies that directly improve lives.

“Development goes beyond roads and bridges. It includes laws that strengthen institutions, protect investments and improve workers’ welfare,” he said.

On the revenue law, the Governor said it would harmonise tax administration, end multiple taxation, and make Delta more attractive to investors, while the property protection law would curb illegal occupation and destruction of properties.

Presenting the bills for assent, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, said the laws would strengthen governance and protect investments in the state.
