The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel Etaifo Erale, has assured the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of sustained security support for electoral activities across the state.

CP Erale gave the assurance on Tuesday when he received the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of INEC in Delta State, Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren, on a courtesy visit at the State Police Headquarters, Asaba.

The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration and inter-agency cooperation on electoral security ahead of forthcoming polls.

Speaking during the visit, Sir Umoren said the recent increase in state constituencies is expected to attract more contestants, thus requiring enhanced security arrangements.

He commended the Police Command for providing adequate security during the recent Udu Constituency by-election and assured the CP of INEC’s readiness to share relevant information to support effective security planning and public safety.

In his response, CP Erale appreciated the visit and reiterated that provision of security and maintenance of law and order remain fundamental responsibilities of the Nigeria Police Force.
