2027: Delta APC Unveils Media Committee, Says We Won’t Rig Elections

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its Media and Publicity Committee for the 2027 general elections, with a pledge not to engage in election rigging but to campaign with its performance record.
Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this on Monday while inaugurating the committee in Asaba.
Members of the committee include Mr. Valentine Onojeguo as Vice Chairman, Hon. Timi Tonye as Secretary, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Olorogun Festus Ahon, Sir Kelly Okolugbo and Mr. Jackson Ekwugum as members.
Aniagwu said the APC would run an issue-based campaign anchored on the achievements and policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
According to him, the mandate of the committee goes beyond the President and the Governor to cover all APC candidates contesting for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate seats.
“We will stay with the issues. We will not get involved in rigging elections. We will show our report card,” Aniagwu said, expressing confidence that the performance of both administrations would earn the party re-election.
He said the committee would work closely with journalists to ensure accurate information about the party’s candidates and programmes gets to the electorate.
The APC campaign spokesman however warned political actors to desist from inflammatory statements capable of inciting violence and threatening the peace in Delta State.
He cautioned against jungle justice at polling units, urging politicians who observe electoral infractions to report to security agencies rather than take the law into their own hands.
“We are not in a jungle republic. If there is anybody carrying out an action you consider not to be in line with the electoral guidelines, that is why we have the security agencies. Report them and let the law take its course,” he said.
Aniagwu stressed that the state government would not tolerate violence from any political divide, recalling Governor Oborevwori’s earlier warning that nobody is above the law.
“We will not tolerate violence, irrespective of the divide anybody belongs to,” he added, urging leaders to exercise restraint as electioneering intensifies.
