APC 2027 Campaign Council List Stands, But Adjustments Expected — Presidency

The Presidency has clarified that the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign Council list remains valid, but may be adjusted where necessary.

Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, made this known on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

Dare was reacting to reports that the APC had withdrawn the list following controversy over the inclusion and exclusion of some party leaders.

He said the list had not been withdrawn, noting that the party was yet to constitute all the subcommittees that would form part of the campaign structure.

“As it is with every other list, there’s room for subcommittees. Those subcommittees have not been formed, and so many other names will come into those subcommittees,” Dare said.

He explained that additional names could be included as the campaign structure takes shape.

Dare also rejected the description of the expected changes as a “review”, insisting that they would only be adjustments where necessary.

“Not a review, just adjustments where necessary,” he said.

According to him, a review would imply a wholesale change, which is not the case with the APC campaign council list.

The APC had on Tuesday dismissed reports that it had withdrawn the list, which was announced over the weekend.

The list names President Tinubu as Chairman, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda as Vice Chairmen.

Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator, Abdul’aziz Yari, was named Director-General, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was designated Secretary.

Dare said the formation of additional subcommittees would create opportunities for more party members and political stakeholders to join the campaign structure.
