Staff of Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West LGA, Delta State, have dismissed unfounded claims by anonymous individuals aimed at discrediting the recent appointment of university principal officers.

The staff expressed full backing for the transparent and merit-based process employed by the University Council in selecting the recently appointed principal officers.

In a statement issued yesterday and signed by Comrade Moses Oghenekome Ogege, Mr. Fine-Boy Doubra, Mrs. Sarah Kattey, Mr. Ossa, and Mr. Alen Igwe, the staff reaffirmed their confidence in the integrity of the appointment process.

They emphasized that the allegations are baseless and undermine the progress the university has made under the current leadership.

The statement detailed that the appointment process began with approval from the Governing Council, which advertised the vacant positions of Registrar, Bursar, and University Librarian in two national newspapers and on the university’s official platform.

Following this, a Selection Committee was formed, supported by three independent consultants assigned to each position. After a thorough, transparent interview process, the top candidates were recommended and duly appointed based on merit.

The staff pointed out that the entire process adhered strictly to principles of fairness, transparency, and integrity, questioning the motives behind the anonymous claims.

They expressed pride in the university’s achievements and reaffirmed their support for the Council’s leadership, particularly commending Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Abdulahi Bardi, for his visionary guidance.
