Man Kills Mother in Osun Over Dispute on Family Farm Lease

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Taiye Kasali over the alleged murder of his mother, Kudirat Kasali, in the state.

According to the police, the suspect was arrested on September 7, 2026, following an investigation into the incident.

The command said the suspect was apprehended after intelligence-led investigations linked him to the death of his mother.

During interrogation, Kasali allegedly confessed to the crime and reportedly led investigators to the location where his mother’s remains had been buried in a shallow grave.

The police said the suspect claimed that his mother had allegedly been mistreating him and had previously referred to him as a “mad person,” among other allegations.

The command said further investigation revealed that the suspect had allegedly threatened his mother before the incident and subsequently buried her remains in an attempt to conceal the crime.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Oyelabi, said the investigation was ongoing and assured the public that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Mungadi, has also directed that the case be thoroughly investigated and that the suspect be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

The command further urged members of the public to promptly report missing persons and suspicious activities to the police or other relevant security agencies.
