Isoko South Chair Welcomes 246 Recce Army’s Battalion in Oleh, Lauds Tinubu’s LG Policies

The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. (Comr.) Friday Ovoke Warri, has welcomed the establishment of the Nigerian Army’s 246 Recce Battalion in Oleh, describing it as a major boost to security and the protection of critical oil and gas assets in the area.

Speaking Wednesday, when a delegation from the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Abuja, led by Brigadier General Chibueze Ogbuabo, paid a courtesy visit to him at his office in Oleh, Warri expressed confidence that the presence of the battalion would strengthen security operations and improve response to threats across the area, noting that Isoko’s strategic contribution to Nigeria’s oil and gas industry makes adequate security particularly important.

“We in Isoko South are happy to have this battalion. With the creation of this battalion, we are safer,” Warri said.

He assured the delegation of the council’s support for the effective operation of the battalion and pledged to facilitate the issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) for its proposed permanent site between Oleh and Ozoro.

Earlier, Ogbuabo said he was in the area to inspect and assess the activities and progress of the newly established unit.

He commended the council for its support and appealed to the chairman to facilitate the issuance of the C of O for the permanent site, which he said would provide a strategic operational base for the battalion.

Friday Warri Urges City Boy Movement to Mobilise Support for Tinubu, Oborevwori

In another development, Warri has called on members of the City Boy Movement, Isoko South chapter, to sustain advocacy for the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Warri made the call Wednesday when the executive members of the movement paid a courtesy visit on him at his office in Oleh.

Warri said some policies of the Tinubu administration were strengthening local government administration by providing councils with greater financial capacity to execute development projects.

“Council chairmen can now boast of executing projects because of some of the radical decisions taken by Mr. President. These policies are strengthening local government administration and giving councils greater capacity to deliver development to the people,” he said.

He urged the group to continue sensitising residents on government policies and supporting initiatives aimed at promoting development at the grassroots.

The chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure, empowering young people and advancing the overall development of Isoko South.
