The Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba, has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Akiewhe-Owhe Community Market.

The projwct marks another significant step towards boosting economic activities and improving the living standards of residents in the community.

The groundbreaking ceremony, which attracted community stakeholders, government officials and other residents, underscored the administration’s commitment to providing sustainable infrastructure that will promote trade, support local businesses and create a more conducive environment for economic growth.

Speaking at the occasion on Wednesday, Ogorugba described the project as part of his administration’s deliberate efforts to execute people-oriented projects that address the immediate needs of communities across Isoko North.

He said the new market, when completed, would provide traders and other business owners in Akiewhe-Owhe with a more organised, accessible and suitable environment to conduct their businesses, while also contributing to the economic development of the community and the local government area.

According to him, community development remains a key priority of his administration, stressing that government projects should have direct and meaningful impacts on the people.

He said, “We are committed to identifying and executing projects that will directly benefit our people. They provide opportunities for traders, farmers, artisans and other entrepreneurs to meet, exchange goods and services and generate income. “We will continue to listen to the needs of our communities and, within available resources, pursue projects that can make a tangible difference in the lives of our people. I therefore urge the people of Akiewhe-Owhe to take ownership of this project, support its successful completion and, when completed, ensure that the facility is properly maintained for the benefit of present and future generations.”

The council chairman also assured the community of the local government’s continued support and partnership, reiterating his administration’s determination to promote development across the various communities in Isoko North.
