The Nigerian Senate has set up a mediation committee comprising of eminent Nigerians to help resolve the Rivers state’s political crisis.

BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that the moves came after the Senate gave it approval to President Bola Tinubu’s proclamation of a state of emergency in the state.

The Senate approval grants the President the authority to enforce emergency measures for a period of six months, with a mandatory review of the situation at any time.

In addition to the approval, the mediation committee will work towards finding a peaceful solution to the crisis, which has been a major concern for the state’s residents.

The National Assembly has also imposed a joint committee of both chambers to oversee the administration of affairs in Rivers State during the emergency period.
