BREAKING: Senate Approves Emergency Rule In Rivers, Sets Up Mediation Committee

The Nigerian Senate has set up a mediation committee comprising of eminent Nigerians to help resolve the Rivers state’s political crisis.
BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports that the moves came after the Senate gave it approval to President Bola Tinubu’s proclamation of a state of emergency in the state.
The Senate approval grants the President the authority to enforce emergency measures for a period of six months, with a mandatory review of the situation at any time.
In addition to the approval, the mediation committee will work towards finding a peaceful solution to the crisis, which has been a major concern for the state’s residents.
The National Assembly has also imposed a joint committee of both chambers to oversee the administration of affairs in Rivers State during the emergency period.
The joint committee will ensure that the emergency measures are implemented in a fair and transparent manner.
The committee’s members, who are yet to be announced, will play a crucial role in bringing together the warring parties and finding a lasting solution to the crisis.
