Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta state, Friday Ovoke Warri, has taken a firm stand against absenteeism by workers in government payroll, urging communities to always report absentee workers who always display lackadaisical attitude to their jobs.

Warri gave the directive Thursday when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Umeh Primary Healthcare and was shock to discover that no single worker was present at duty post, warning that henceforth his administration will not tolerate such attitude.

The unscheduled visit, initiated by the chairman is aimed at verify the activities of the over seven staff members employed at the healthcare facility who receive monthly wages from the government.

None of the staff at primary healthcare centre was formally informed of the visit which made it possible for the council boss to obtain firsthand information regarding the workers’ absenteeism

While interacting with some residents during the visit, Warri noted that “It is particularly concerning that the community primary healthcare centre was opened but no single staff was around.

“The residents of Umeh deserve quality infrastructure that meets their health needs, and we are committed to advocating for such standards”, and he advised residents of Umeh and other communities in Isoko South council to consistently report the activities of such workers to the local government authority in their area, ensuring that the outcomes genuinely benefit from government support and yield fruitful and beneficial results for end-users.

Warri and his team also utilised the opportunity to assess the dilapidated Umeh market, which has been affected by the damage caused by recurring floods that have continued to ravage the market annually.
