The authorities of the Bayelsa State Police Command have identified and taken into custody the patrol team allegedly responsible for the unprovoked attack on innocent women at the Tombia-Etegwe roundabout, Yenagoa.

BIGPENNGR.COM reports an angry policeman on Wednesday allegedly opened fire on market women, shooting a 17-year-old periwinkle trader and two other women for allegedly causing traffic gridlock that delayed their escort van from passing through the popular Tombia market in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Reports say the policemen numbering six in number had released volumes of gun shots to scare the traders and pedestrians to make way for the vehicle to pass freely but in the process, about three persons were hit by the bullets fired by one of the officer.

State Police Public Relation Officer, SP Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the unfortunate incident, said that it occurred at the popular Tombia-Etegwe roundabout on 24 November, 2020 at about 19:45 hours.
