#EndSARS Protest: Tension As Mobs Set Fuel Tanker Ablaze In Delta After Ramming Youth Over

Pandemonium has broke out in Warri after a petrol tanker driver rammed his truck over a yet-to-be identified youth apparently during the #EndSARS protest at the NPA Expressway, near Effurun Roundabout in Uvwie council area of Delta state.

BIGPEN reports that the incident which occurred Wednesday night has caused tension in the area as youths were said to be mobilising toward the scene near the popular Delta Mall in the roundabout.

It was gathered that the area which has been lockdown from vehicular movement by #EndSARS protesters was further worsen with the incident as motorist and commuters are advised to stay away from the axis.

One resident claimed that the victim maybe one of those who hide under the guise of the #EndSARS protest who had refused to vacate the road but rather extort motorists, especially tanker drivers plying the route.

The source disclosed that the victim had allegedly climbed one of the tankers and fell down, but an oncoming truck which may not have seen him, hit him, resulting in his death.

According to account of some residents in the area, angry “boys” in the area set the truck on fire, Thursday morning. The tanker, they claimed allegedly “intentionally” slammed on his breaks after seeing the youth climbing the truck which resulted to his falling down and being hit by another oncoming vehicle.

BIGPEN, however, learnt that security operatives have been drafted to the area to ensure that the situation does not escalate, even as a good number of persons continue to flock to the scene.

State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, promised to get back with details, but was yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.
