JUST IN: Hooligans Break Into Okere Prison In Delta, Set Inmates Free

Published

on

A jail break has been reported at the correctional centre in Warri, commercial nerve of Delta state as hooligans invaded the prison, with a number of prisoners escaping from the facility.

BIGPEN understands a number of inmates escaped from the facility when some hoodlums under the guise of #EndSARS protesters invaded it.

However, the situation was brought under control as soldiers who were drafted to the area repelled the invaders but some inmates reportedly took advantage of the melee between the soldiers and invaders and scale the prison fence.

Sources said that a section of the prison where the inmates documents are kept was razed down ostensibly by the inmates in the chaotic situation.

The outer part of the prison building was also set ablaze by the hoodlums, our source said.

One source said that only one of the inmates that attempted to escape was shot, others, according to the source, escaped before the situation was brought under control.
