Delta Council Chairman Abducted as Gunmen Invade Hotel, Shoot Security Aides

Unknown gunmen, on Friday night invaded a hotel in Sapele, abducting the Executive Chairman of Sapele local government area of Delta state, Hon. Bright Abeke.

The chairman who reportedly lodged at the hotel located along Owumi Road in Sapele, believed to be his own, was abducted on Friday night around 7:25 pm.

According to multiple sources, the gunmen didn’t wait time in the operation as they stormed the hotel in a Range Rover SUV and shot their way in.

Shooting sporadically to disperse onlookers they shot the Chairman’s security aide, and a vigilante member identified as Ufuoma before seizing their target who was immediately whisked away to unknown destination.

The whereabouts of council chairman remain shrouded in mystery as at press time.

The injured persons have since been rushed to undisclosed hospital in the area for medical attention.

The development has triggered panic and tension in the area, as security operatives were said to have blocked all entry and exit routes in Sapele to aid rescue efforts and possibly tracked down the perpetrators.
