The Central Bank of Nigeria has denied earlier media reports that it website was compromised and hacked by Anonymous, a decentralized international activist/hacktivist collective/movement that is widely known for its various cyber attacks.

The CBN, in a late Friday night tweet, denying its website was ever hacked, assured stakeholders and the general public that its website is protected and secured. The apex bank said the integrity of the site was intact.

This was contained in a statement signed by Osita Nwanisobi, Acting Director, Corporation Communication of the apex bank.

But a likely Anonymous also known as anons, on twitter said that the CBN website that is currently up is an offline version that was reactivated from Cloudflare.

“UPDATE: The Nigerian central bank website has now activated the “Under attack mode” to avoid our attacks. The website is still being attacked and is down. If the site seems online sometimes, its just an offline version of the site offered by Cloudflare. The server is down.

BIGPEN reports Anonymous, in a earlier tweet, said it coordinated attacks on more Nigerian government websites in solidarity to #EndSARS protest by Nigerian youths would not cease until the federal government listens to the yearnings of citizens to bring police officers accused of brutality to justice.
