As the lobby for the leadership of senate presidency gathers momentum, the Ndokwa nation APC stakeholders have endorsed the nomination of Senator Ahmad Lawan as Senate President and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as Deputy Senate President respectively.

Lawan, an APC senator who is favoured by the presidency is from Yobe in the North East, while Omo-Agege, a pro-Buhari senator is from Delta State in the South-south.

BIGPEN ONLINE reports that APC is working on a zoning arrangement for the various offices for the inauguration of the 9th National Assembly in June, this year.

Coordinator of the Ndokwa APC Stakeholders group, Ogbuefi Paul Odili in a statement after the group’s meeting, called on all elected senators on the platform of APC to rally round the decision of the party to ensure stability and cohesiveness of the National Assembly and avoid the mistakes of the past, which led to the crisis in the 8th National Assembly.

The group said that Senator Ahmad Lawan as the Senate President and Omo-Agege as Deputy was a prefect match to pilot the affairs of the 9th Senate.

“We therefore urged Mr. President and leader of our party, our comrade chairman His Excellency Governor Adams Oshimhole and other stakeholders to consider the South/south zone in the zoning of top offices in the Senate.

“Looking at the performance of APC in the zone, we in particular believe that APC in Delta state has recorded tremendous progress considering where the party was in 2015 and today when the APC returned 220,000 votes for Mr. President, the highest in the region that the position of Senate President or Deputy Senate President is most equitable.

“And for that reason, we canvass that Senator Ovie Omo-agege, a ranking Senator and strong believer in the policies of change and Next level of APC and in our President should be considered for the exalted Deputy Senate President.

“He is a smart lawyer, an able administrator and a brilliant legislator. Widely loved in his constituency and across Delta state as a whole. He is surely an asset that will help drive the developmental agenda of APC and the PMB administration.

“We also believe that such a position will stabilize APC in Delta state enable our state to further consolidate the progress it is making to break the shackle of one-party rule of PDP in the state and bring Delta state into the progressive fold in Nigeria’s democratic system”.
