“From what I have seen, it is quite good and I hope it will be like that in other parts of the country. Nigerians are anxious to vote and we give them the opportunity.

“I advised those who are very ambitious to weigh the gain and effect of their ambition, when you see that it will lead to violence, please control your ambition, four years is not too long,” he said.

The former governor, however, identified late arrival of voting materials at Koko Ward 6 as the challenge.

“We do hope there will be improvement in the subsequent elections,” he said.

In a related development, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, the Delta State gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also hailed the conduct of the presidentail and national assembly elections.

He however expressed hope that victory awaits all candidates of the party in the polls.

Ogboru spoke after casting his vote at Abraka Ward 1, unit 8, saying, President Muhammadu Buhari has done so well and deserved another term in office to complete his good work.

“The environment is quite peaceful, and I just voted, though there were rumours of some technical issues about the machines, though, l have no iota doubt about the victory of APC candidates.

“l know we shall win, and I hope that the elections will be peaceful in other places, I heard that people are still trying to snatch ballot boxes in some places, but I don’t see the need for that when the election is peaceful.

Meanwhile, Senator Ovie Omo Agege has expressed confidence that the APC would have the day.

Speaking with journalists in Orhomurho- Orogun, ward 1, unit 19 where he stood on queue waiting for his turn for accreditation and voting, he said the election was peaceful and called on everyone to come out and vote.

He said the election was an opportunity for Nigerians to determine their leaders for the next four years before another referendum would be had and as such encouraged Nigerians to utilise the power of the ballot in and not the power of the bullet.
