Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former vice-president has disclosed how he prevented erstwhile Anambra State Governor, Chinwoke Mbadinuju, from securing PDP ticket for re-election in 2003.

Atiku said he provided the report that stopped Mbadinuju reelection.

According to him, he told former President Olusegun Obasanjo about Mbadinuju administration’s neglect of schools in Anambra and had asked Mr. President that the ex-governor must not be allowed to return.

The PDP presidential candidate spoke on Wednesday evening at The Candidates, a political forum hosted by the NTA and sponsored by the McArthur Foundation in the run-up to the 2019 General Elections monitored by BigPen Online.

Speaking on how serious he would handle issues of education if elected, Atiku revealed how he had gone on tour of some states and that he was appalled to discover that schools in Anambra were shut down for two years on account of the Mbadinuju administration’s neglect.

“When I returned from the states’ tour, I told President Obasanjo that Mbadinuju must not be allowed to seek reelection,” Atiku said.
