Drama at PTI Junction as Delta Youths Tear ‘Soft Nigeria’ Polos With Tinubu Face, Chant Obi

There was mild drama on Thursday at PTI Junction, Effurun, Delta State, after youths who gathered for a 5KM Independence Day Run rejected polo shirts shared by organizers.
According to a viral post, the youths had assembled at the popular junction to participate in the Independence Day fitness run, only to discover that the “Soft Nigeria” branded polos being distributed had President Bola Tinubu’s face hidden in the design.
The development reportedly angered the youths, who felt deceived.
Eyewitnesses in the video circulating on X said some of the youths started tearing the polo shirts and threatened to boycott the Independence Day run, chanting “OBI OBI OBI” in reference to Nigeria Democratic Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The post also jokingly said, “SHERIFF go done tire by now,” in reference to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
As of press time, it was not clear which government agency or group organized the 5KM run, and BIGPEN could not independently verify if the event was sponsored by the state government.
The video has since generated mixed reactions on social media, with many users linking the incident to growing political awareness among young people ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Efforts to reach organizers of the run for comment were unsuccessful.
