The police in Delta State have arrested the fleecing cop who allegedly shot a student of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Sofia Ogogo, and a civil servant, Victor Emeagwai, at a checkpoint in Ibusa, close to Asaba, the state capital.

Besides, the state police command also confirmed that it has four other policemen on the team arrested while the Divisional Police Officer of Ibusa police station was queried for lacking in supervision.

This was contained in a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka who quoted the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim as reaffirming the Command’s readiness at all times to ensure fairness and justice in all its dealings with members of the public.

The arrest of the fleeing officer, Sgt. Sampson Abuo (F/No. 424188) came against the backdrop of what the police says “offensive insinuations and unwarranted concerns raised by one Afeez Hanafi, calling on the police authorities not to sweep “under the carpet” a case of attempted murder under investigation.

BigPen Online recalls that Abuo in company of four other policemen at a checkpoint had flagged down the Toyota Corolla Ogogo travelling in along Ibusa Market and following disagreement over alleged bribe of N1000 demand from the driver of by vehicle, the triggered-happy police officer reportedly opened fire on the car, shooting the victims.
