  Leaders of the Niger Delta region under the auspices of Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF are set to meet in Abuja to review the threats by militant groups to northerners as well as plans by insurgent groups to resume attacks on oil installations in the region. This is coming as the Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark-led PENDEF on Monday appealed to militant groups to sheath their sword on the alleged plans to launch attack on oil installation in Delta State.   A Minna High Court on Monday remanded the Niger state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Tanko Beji, in prison till Friday when it will rule on his application for bail. Counsel to Beji,  Mr. Olajide Ayodele ( SAN ), had asked the court to release him on bail on self-recognition but counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Gbolahan Latona ( SAN), opposed the application on the grounds that the offence for which the PDP boss was charged was not bailable by virtue of section 341 subsection 2 of the Criminal procedure code. The Managing Director of Seplat Petroleum Development Company, Mr. Austin Avuru, has said that the company was not lobbying to stop the passage of the full version of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB). Avuru said Seplat as an oil company would easily fit into the legislation once it is eventually passed in full into law saying that it was not losing any sleep over the passage of the complete PIB.
