BREAKING! ex-Delta Governor, Uduaghan Gives Up Membership Of APC, Re-registers For PDP Today
Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, the immediate past governor of Delta State, has finally gave up his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) barely two years after he took a critical decision to join the party in protest of alleged maltreatment in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Uduaghan is said to be making a major return to the PDP at his Unit 1, Ward 6, today at his country home in Abigborodo, Warri North local government area of the state.
BIGPEN understands the former governor who had frosty relationship with his successor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa after the 2015 general election, is making the ‘big come back’ after intense consultation and reportedly horse trading ahead 2023 political year.
This medium had reported last week that Uduaghan was eminently at the verge of returning back to the PDP after he had a closed door with Ibori, the supposed ‘political godfather of Delta politics’ and incumbent governor, Okowa at Government House in Asaba before the threesome fused to attend a state function together in Oghara, country home of Ibori.
Uduaghan who started his political career as a founding member and chairman of the All Nigeria Congress Association for the Warri South Local Government Area, was a pioneer founder and executive member of the Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM), which collapsed to being the foundation of the current PDP.
Uduaghan became governor of Delta state from 2007 to 2015 after James Ibori, his cousin. He assumed office via an inconclusive election on 29 May 2007 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The medical doctor by profession, prior to becoming governor, he was the Commissioner for Health, Delta State and the Secretary to the State Government.
In 26 April 2011 elections, Uduaghan was reelected for a second term of office and ran through his tenure but had issues when he could not influence the emergence of his successor.
On 29 August 2018, he officially announced he has left PDP for APC after his relationship went frosty with his successor, Okowa and contested for the Delta South Senatorial seat but lost to incumbent Senator James Manager.
