COVID-19: Omo-Agege’s N85m Palliative Gets To More Delta Central Communities

on

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has continued the disbursement of the eighty-five million naira he released as palliative to his constituents to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 lockdown in Delta state.

BIGPEN reports that residents, particularly elderly and other vulnerable persons who suffered the brunt of the lockdown, on Tuesday, received the dole in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

The team assigned to disburse the money led by Matthew Omonade (Eqs.) were at Etefe Agbarha earlier today, where they gave N5,000 each to elderly men and women from five households in the community.

The disbursement team was also at Omavovwe community in Agbarha, where at least five elderly persons also benefited from the package meant to alleviate food shortage occasioned by the stay-at-home order by the government.

Also visited were Okpara Agbarha, Awirhe Agbarha, Oghara Agbarha and Agbara-Otor where several elderly men and women received the N5,000 palliative each.

Other communities where the sum was shared include, Owevwe Agbarha, E jekota, Ogor, Oviri Ogor and Ighwre Ovie – all in Ughelli North LGA.

At each point, the beneficiaries prayed God to protect and provide more for the Deputy President of Senate for his kind gesture.

However, at Oviri Ogor, the team was confronted by a pathetic scene where an elderly woman, named Comfort Eshenyevwe, was having ‘dry garri and coconut’ as meal at about 2pm.

She told the team that she has not had any meal since morning, apparently why her joy was palpable when she was given the N5,000 dole.

The elderly sang and dance to the glory of God over the gesture and instantly abandoned her meal of ‘dry garri and coconut’, praying God to bless the Senator.

The palliative disbursement team comprises of Matthew Omonade, Progress Omo-Agege, Felix Ogbajini, Innocent Anidi, amongst others, is expected to continue the disbursement in other part of the eight local government areas that made up Delta Central senatorial district.
