Jubilation In Asaba As Supreme Court Affirms Okowa’s Victory

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state was duely elected for second term of office.
This came amid wild jubilation in Asaba, the state capital, and across the state over Okowa’s victory which many have described as victory for true democracy.
The apex court in a unanimous judgment dismissed the appeal filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Great Ogboru.
In the judgment read by Justice Centus Nweze, the court held that the appellant, Ogboru failed to prove allegations of over-voting.
The court also held that the position of card readers are too numerous to begin to mention them or for the appellant to claim they are not in the know.
The court held that the appeal is a waste of the precious time of the Apex Court as Okowa’s petitioner failed to prove his case.
