A major traffic gridlock has been reported on the bridge linking Uvwie and Udu in Delta State, leaving motorists and commuters stranded for several hours.

The congestion, which began early Monday morning, was reportedly triggered by a truck that broke down on top of the bridge, obstructing the major route and restricting the movement of vehicles in both directions.

The development has resulted in a heavy buildup of traffic, with road users spending hours in the gridlock as efforts to ease the situation appeared limited.

The bridge serves as a major link between Uvwie and Udu, making it a critical route for residents, workers, commercial drivers and other road users.

According to our correspondent, as of the time of filing this report, the traffic situation remained severe, with commuters calling for the immediate removal of the stranded truck and urgent intervention by relevant traffic management authorities.

The prolonged gridlock has raised concerns over the impact on economic activities and the movement of people within the area.
