Former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole has endorsed the death penalty for convicted kidnappers and bandits, lending support to a proposal by his successor, Monday Okpebholo.

‎Oshiomhole made his position known while addressing supporters of the ruling party in Auchi, located in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

‎The senator expressed support for the governor’s proposal, arguing that tougher penalties are necessary to curb the growing threat of kidnapping and banditry. He maintained that those found guilty of such crimes deserve the maximum punishment under the law.

‎Governor Okpebholo has recently advocated the introduction of the death penalty for convicted kidnappers as part of efforts to strengthen security and deter violent crimes in Edo State.

‎The proposal has continued to generate public debate, with supporters arguing it would serve as a strong deterrent, while critics have called for broader security and judicial reforms alongside stricter penalties.
