The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has intensified efforts to resolve internal disagreements in Kano State, following a high-level meeting with representatives of the Kwankwasiyya movement.

‎In a statement issued on Monday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Osa Director Esq., the meeting was held behind closed doors and involved the national leadership of the Kwankwasiyya movement, the National Leader of the NDC, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, and other top party officials.

‎According to the statement, the discussions were aimed at addressing issues between the Kwankwasiyya movement and legacy NDC officials in Kano State, with the party leadership playing a mediatory role to foster unity, inclusion, and broader participation among members.

‎The NDC leadership reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, stressing that it would not impose candidates in Kano State or any other part of the country.

‎“Senator Dickson and the NDC leadership are mediating in the process in order to enhance inclusion and participation by every party member. The NDC leadership will not impose candidates in Kano State, and indeed across the nation as the party cherishes the virtues of internal democracy,” the statement said.

‎The party described the meeting, which lasted several hours, as productive and expressed optimism that ongoing consultations would strengthen cohesion within its ranks.

‎The NDC also dismissed reports circulating on social media and other platforms claiming to contain the results of its primary elections.

‎The party clarified that it has not officially released the results of its primaries in any state and urged members of the public and party faithful to disregard any unofficial lists currently in circulation.

‎The development comes amid heightened political activity and growing interest in the party’s preparations ahead of forthcoming elections.
