Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State have expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, and Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas by passing a vote of confidence in their leadership.

The decision was made during the local government maiden’s APC meeting following the recent mass defections of former PDP members to APC.

The gathering took place at Senator Joel-Onowakpo’s country home in Emede and was attended by key leaders from all eleven wards in the local government.

Participants included notable leaders and party faithfuls including Chief Lucky Esigie, Rt. Hon. Johnson Erijo, Odio Askia Ogeh, Comr. Egbogbo Vincent, APC Chairman Rt. Hon. Ferguson Onwo, Hon. Bino Obowomano, and Chief Emamusi Obiodeh, among others.

Speaking separately, they emphasized the need for unity of purpose to ensure the party’s success in the 2027 elections.

In his remarks at the meeting, Senator Joel-Onowakpo, representing Delta South Senatorial District, reaffirmed that Delta State’s leader within the APC is Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, aligning with directives from the national party leadership and the presidency.

Senator Joel-Onowakpo also stressed that all party members, regardless of when they joined, are considered APC and urged unity to prevent divisions.

Party officials, especially ward chairmen, were advised to facilitate a smooth registration of new members and avoid actions that could cause discord.

“We must refrain from any actions that might cause division within party ranks and also ensure all party organs within the local government work seamlessly, especially ward chairmen, ensure a seamless registration process for new members”, he admonished.

The highlight of the meeting was a formal motion of confidence in President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, and Senator Joel-Onowakpo. The motion, moved by Hon. Ferguson Onwo and seconded by Dr. Sylvester Onoyona, received overwhelming support from attendees, who commended these leaders for their distinguished service.
