Wike: ‘I Am Fighting Those Deceiving Fubara—Not Fubara Himself, He’s My Boy, Son’

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has publicly reaffirmed his close relationship with Governor Siminalayi Fubara in a move that suggests a possible resolution to the political tensions in Rivers State.
BIGPEN NIGERIA (https://bigpenngr.com) reports Wike maintained that he regards Fubara as his “boy” and “son,” stating, “Fubara is my boy, he is my son. How can I fight my own son?”
Speaking in an interview with the BBC, Wike clarified that he is not engaged in any conflict with the governor. Instead, he accused certain political figures of trying to manipulate Fubara for their own gain.
“I am fighting those deceiving him—those who want to reap where they did not sow,” Wike explained, naming people like Celestine Omehia, Abiye Sekibo, and Austin Okpara as part of the scheme. “I have defeated them before, and I will give them the final defeat,” he added.
Wike also shared that Fubara recently visited him alongside other governors and later made a follow-up phone call, indicating ongoing communication and support. He revealed that President Bola Tinubu had personally contacted him, urging him to reconcile with Fubara. “The President called me to make peace with him. I can’t disobey the President. He (Fubara) called me, and I asked him how he is and how his family is doing,” Wike said.
Last week, Fubara had called on his supporters to remain calm and avoid statements that could hinder ongoing peace and reconciliation efforts.
