Dele Farotimi: Those Behind My Incarceration Will Pay

Popular human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi has promised to make those behind his incarceration account for it in the halted defamation case with legal icon Afe Babalola (SAN).

Farotimi was arrested by the police in December 2024 and taken to Ekiti State, where he was subsequently charged with defamation over his book Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System’.

He was in detention for three weeks after, but Babalola ended the case came to an abrupt end when Babalola decided to withdraw.

In a chat with Channels Television’s ‘Sunday Politics’, Farotimi disclosed his intention to go after those behind his detention.

“Let me continue to reassert that I was always at peace, but when it comes to demanding an account of those who have perverted the powers of the state in pursuit of a private cause, you can be certain of one thing: some people will account for my incarceration,” he stated.
