BREAKING: NDDC’s MD Escapes Attack As Gunmen Kidnap Aide In Bayelsa

The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC), Dr Sam Ogbuku, on Friday, reportedly escaped attack as gunmen operating on Bayelsa waterways, kidnapped his Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs, Mr Akari Loveday.
Akari was kidnapped Friday evening while on his way to the MD, Dr Sam Ogbuku’s hometown, Ayakoro community, in Ogbia Local Government Area.

According to sources, Akari who was part of the advance team to prepare the ground before the arrival of his boss was stopped by the gunmen and whisked into their boat.
However, the boat engine stopped and refused to start forcing the gunmen to hand paddle to the bank of the river before they escaped into the bush.
The source said a combined team of security agents has been deployed for a search and rescue mission in the forest.
“The SA Domestic to the NDDC MD has been kidnapped. He was kidnapped along the river on the way to Ayakoro. They took him out of the boat, but as they tried to get away, their engine stopped suddenly. So, they pulled to the shore and ran into the bush.
“As I was coming, on the road to Otuoke and the entire area, there was a heavy police presence. They were doing stop-and-search ”.
